Lithium
Lithium has the lowest density metal and comes after hydrogen and helium in the periodic table. Its atomic number is 3 and its atomic weight is 6,941. Lithium is the solid element with the highest specific temperature; With this feature, it is used in heat transfer applications. Since it is the lightest metal, it produces metals alloyed with aluminum, copper, manganese and cadmium to make strong and light metals for aircraft. Used in batteries, some glass and ceramic types and some lubricants.
It is possible to examine lithium usage in three groups.
1- Ore and concentrated ore
2- Metallic lithium
3- Lithium compounds
Lithium ore and concentrate, mostly; It is used in the field of glass, ceramic and porcelain enamel.
The second major use of lithium is in the glass industry. Here it is consumed both as lithium carbonate and as a mineral. It is used as lithium carbonate especially in the production of quality glass.
