ASTATINE
Astatine is symbolized by "At" and has atomic number 85. The name of the element comes from the Greek word "Astatos" which means "unbalanced". In the earth's crust; occurs only as the "decomposition product" of some heavy elements. With this feature, it has the title of being the rarest element in nature among the elements in the periodic table. The 17th period is the 6th group element. It is solid at room temperature.
Scientists have discovered that the amount of astatine on the Earth's surface cannot exceed 25 grams (Chemistry Explained / 29.01.2021). All isotopes of astatine are short-lived. The most stable is astatine-210, with a half-life of 8.1 hours. We do not know much about the properties of this element because of its short decay life. In addition, the fact that all isotopes of astatine are radioactive made it difficult to carry out studies on it.
Astatine, which is not intended for any use today except for laboratory studies; It does not pose a risk as it is not significantly present in the biosphere
